The inauguration of the VIB Agro-Incubator took place in October 2021 in the presence of Flemish Minister of Innovation and Agriculture Hilde Crevits. The VIB Agro-Incubator will be instrumental to develop innovative agricultural solutions meeting climate adaptation and mitigation.
In July 2022 the phenotyping platform from BASF-Cropdesign was disassembled to make room for a brandnew state of the art high-throughput phenotyping platform.
On August 16th, 2022, the first two startups for VIB's Biotope incubator program were selected: Bolder Foods and N-Fix.
On February 16th, 2023, a new round of startup teams are selected: AmphiStor, Elogium, Probitat and B'ZEOS.
This new incubator hikes up agricultural biotechnology starters by offering the required space and support in a unique environment. Through collaborations with academia and industry, the VIB Agro-Incubator provides access to high-technological facilities and expertise in plant research and technological developments for sustainable agriculture. Focus areas are climate change mitigation and adaptation, biological crop protection, and digital farming.
In close collaboration with the VIB-UGent center for Plant Systems Biology and through access to VIB technology, we can tackle complicated biotechnological questions. Together with ILVO, we explore collaborative opportunities and unlock networks to help early-stage companies mature quickly.
